Terms of Service

1. Who this is between

These terms are between you and the operator of PICKL (“PICKL”, “we”). By creating an account you agree to them. The operating entity, its registered address and the governing jurisdiction need to be filled in before these terms are published.

2. Who can use PICKL

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission. You may not use PICKL if we have previously removed your account.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping it secure.
  • One person per account. Clubs, venues and brands use their own account types.
  • Handles are allocated, not owned. We reserve handles that would mislead people.
  • Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you post. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display it for the purpose of operating and improving PICKL, and to let other users see it according to the audience you chose. This licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies other people have already shared and for backups we are required to keep.

You confirm you have the right to post what you post, including any photos or video of other people.

5. Rules of use

The Community Guidelines form part of these terms. In addition, you must not:

  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download PICKL without written permission;
  • reverse engineer, interfere with, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service;
  • use PICKL to send unsolicited commercial messages;
  • misrepresent your identity, rating or affiliations.

6. Match results and ratings

PICKL records match results that players log and other participants confirm. These are a record of what people reported, not an officiated result. PICKL does not issue skill ratings. Where a rating is shown, it is the rating the player told us they hold from a third-party body such as DUPR or UTR-P, and PICKL makes no representation about its accuracy. PICKL rankings and leaderboards are community features and are not official standings of any sanctioning body.

7. Venues, events and bookings

Venue listings, opening hours, prices and events are supplied by users and venue operators. We do not verify them and are not responsible for them. Where PICKL links to an external booking provider, your booking is with that provider under their terms, not ours.

8. Playing pickleball is a physical activity

PICKL helps you find people, courts and events. It does not supervise play. You are responsible for your own safety and fitness to play, and for meeting people you have met online sensibly — see Safety.

9. Suspension and termination

We may restrict, suspend or remove an account that breaches these terms or the Community Guidelines. Except where a delay would cause harm, we will tell you what rule was broken and give you a way to respond. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give notice in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use PICKL after that means you accept the updated terms.

11. Liability

This section needs to be drafted by a qualified adviser for the relevant jurisdictions, including limitations of liability, warranty disclaimers, indemnities, dispute resolution and governing law. It is deliberately not drafted here, because a plausible-sounding liability clause written without legal advice is worse than none.
